The boys of La Cassette Utrecht had asked me to paint a large mural (roll-up) on their property of
called Vechtclub (the Dutch version of Fightclub). La Cassette embraces connecting people
with music. Like the cassette tape, we find innovative ways to create counterculture by putting their stamp
onto the existing idea of nightlife via an array of multidisciplinary creative forms of communication, ranging
from art to music to fashion and lifestyle to video and photography. With a brandidentityof this
magnitude and attitude I wanted to create a something big. I went for a classic graffiti roll-up piece. This
technic is often used in the graffiti scenen throughout the world where people make use of only a paintroller,
latex paint and a telescopic pole to create a piece of sheer volume on hard to reach places. With my work being
roughly 15 x 2,5 meters standing a solid 3 meters above the ground it’s a good reflection of what LaCassette
stands for and it capable of in the near future.
